Projects > TOO HOT / for climate change

With this installation Katie has begun to re-evaluate the processes and materials utilised in her practice and to experiment with more sustainable ways of working and making. Marks on the wall created using the pigment of fresh plant material respond to the unusual weather conditions that are more noticeable with each year.
Creating this work involved seeking out and collecting organic materials. This movement is an opportunity to observe and become familiar with the patterns of change within an environment, as well as reflect upon the shape and nature of identities that support healthy ecologies. This process also reconfigures the decision-making process within a creative practice. For this work it all depends on what plants are growing at time, and with enough frequency to justify taking a few bits.
